Every person is different and is motivated differently. Some people do really well working out to videos in their home, going to the gym, or going out for a run. For someone like me I need people surrounding me who are going to push me beyond what I think I can do; that is why for me, Orange Theory is hands down the best workout I’ve had in my entire life.
I grew up playing sports and having coaches telling me what to do, so leaving the “sports” world and having to grow up, made it really difficult for me to motivate myself to workout. I needed accountability, people to push me, and a place to go each and every day. Orange Theory hits all of that for me and if you know me at all, you know i’m addicted.
I started my Orange Theory journey at the same time as I started my Beachbody journey. I joined a beachbody challenge group and from there learned all the amazing things about clean eating and nutrition and the amazing results of shakeology. I combined all of that with my Orange Theory workouts. I go to Orange Theory 4-5 times a week religiously. It’s on my calendar and part of my schedule; like any workout program, if I can’t do it at the time I had planned, I make sure I clear my schedule to get my workout in. So it’s great because Orange Theory compliments a challenge group and Beachbody perfectly!!
Orange Theory is unique in that it’s a group class that is designed to help you both in your cardio and in strength training. It is based off of your heart rate, so everybody works out at their own pace.
“The physiological theory behind the Orangetheory workout is known as “Excess Post-Exercise Oxygen Consumption,” or EPOC. By providing you with a heart-rate monitor and POD, we can monitor your 5-zone interval training sessions that we call the Orange 60. During the 60-minute workout, you will perform multiple intervals designed to produce 12 to 20 minutes of training at 84% or higher of your maximum heart rate, which translates to Zones 4/5. This program design produces workout “afterburn” effect, which is an increased metabolic rate for 24 to 36 hours after the workout. When combining the amazing workout with EPOC, our clients burn an average of 500 to 1000 calories.
